Super Bowl Wisdom
"The trophy is there for the taking. The team that has the most faith will win." ~DeMarcus Ware
"We have met the enemy and he is us." ~Pogo Possum
"It won't be the economy that will do in investors; it will be investors themselves." ~Warren Buffett
This past weekend was a great weekend here in Broncos Nation. Some of you may not be Broncos fans, so bear with me. No other fans have more experience losing Super Bowls than Broncos fans, so it's a great feeling when we come out on top.
Next year could be completely different, of course. Two years ago, the Broncos offense set records that arguably made them the best offense ever. This year, we'll start bragging about our defense being (at the least) among the best ever.
It's a different year for investing, as well. Last year's winners in the stock market are off to a rough start in 2016. Look at the FANG stocks: Facebook, Amazon, Netflix and Google in 2015. They are off the charts like Peyton Manning's passing records two years ago.
Look at the same companies this year (below). They've had a lot of "turnovers."
There's a lesson from this... you can still be a champion investor if you don't try to time the market. If you think to yourself, "I just know what's going to happen is..." anything, and you invest off it, you're in trouble. Don't bet on it.
Stay diverse. Play defense. Win big over long periods of time.
